Pruning the Fruitful Branches

"...Every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit."
John 15:2 (ESV)
Similar to Proverbs 17:3, God puts us through trials in order to prune or cleanse us. Impurities begin to fall away, and new fruit is produced. It is a method of training, like instructing a tree to grow in a certain way.
Without pruning, the vine will eventually appear dead. There will be low fruit yield, and the shoots will begin growing shorter and shorter. For a branch to be healthy and fruitful, it must be pruned.
When we see good fruit being produced in our lives, we must prepare ourselves for pruning. It will be painful. It will feel counterintuitive, but that season of pain will be beneficial as we produce new, better fruit. Do not be afraid to face the testing, for God is seeking for you to bear the good fruit of the True Vine.
