MIDWEEK REFLECTIONS

Sometimes the pain is unrelenting. You are adrift at sea and the storm rolls in. You fight to keep from drowning in the sea below, and the skies above threaten to fill your lungs with the torrential rain. But press on. Rescue is coming.

Why is Good Friday so good? To the world it seems backwards, to say that the day on which the God of our religion died is such a good day. Who in their right mind celebrates a death with such joy and praise?

All the splendor of heaven is gifted to us, and we need not fight a single battle in order to obtain it, for the battle was won in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.

Happiness can be chosen today, but you must first decide what you will think think about.

Do not be afraid to face the testing, for God is seeking for you to bear the good fruit of the True Vine.

As the Christian goes through subsequent trials, our hearts are being purified. When we glorify God through these trials, the dross plaguing the heart is removed and we will shine with the pure light of the Refiner.

When we go through extended periods without encouragement, sin creeps in and robs us of the joy of remembering God's promises and steadfast love.

Do not defer your happiness to an unpromised tomorrow. Time is scarce, so spend it wisely.

Prayers that are always answered immediately would not produce faith, but an attitude of entitlement and self-righteousness.
